Formica lugubris (the hairy northern wood ant)[1] is a species of ant in the family Formicidae. It is found in Austria, Bulgaria, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Norway, Romania, Russia, Serbia and Montenegro, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom.[2]
